It’s been a busy couple of weeks, getting the pub fit for our volunteers to come in and help out.
On the 1st December we had the first opportunity for shareholders to see what they had invested in. We had a great turnout, some who remembered the pub well, and others for whom it was the first time they had ever set foot inside. Thank you to all those who volunteered to help in whatever way they could – we will be in touch.
For those who haven’t seen it, we made it into two papers: The Royston Crow and the Cambridge Independent with wonderful pictures showing the support for the pub.
The Management committee have been undertaking meetings with advisors to look at the structure of the pub, advice about the kitchen equipment and grant applications that we can make. We have also had electricians and plumbers in to give quotes and check the basic services, and, fingers crossed, things are looking good. However, I never like to count on these things until the work has been done as I know how these things can hide problems!
Keep your eyes on your emails for requests for volunteers to clean the pub, gardening etc, and for any special events.
For those of you who haven't seen it, here is the Simpsons 'liquor store' which is a very historic part of the building
