Awards, shortlisted chef and more coverage by the BBC...what a start to the year!

It’s been a great six months for our community pub and we’re looking forward to what the new year will bring. Thank you to everyone who have visited Megan and Peter. They are doing a fantastic job of creating a community pub we can be proud of, as well as developing a business that’s successful for them.

A few people have asked us recently to explain how our community pub operates, so here’s a brief recap: GMCP Ltd owns the freehold of The Three Tuns pub (and the garden), and we are responsible for the ownership of the property. Peter and Megan hold a three-year tenancy to run the pub as a business and to maintain the building and patio area. GMCP maintains the garden and car park, and the tenants have full access to both. It’s currently working very well and to see so many people being employed locally is hugely positive. GMCP plans to run 2-3 social events of our own this year - details will be posted in due course. We want to raise awareness of community pubs and to encourage more people to become shareholders. We’ll be working closely with Megan and Peter on dates as they also have events in mind.

TUNS Talks: The Tuesday 11th February TUNS Talk will now be on the CAB (Citizens Advice Bureau) and Patrick Davies, Assistant Editor of BBC Look East, will now join us on the 14th April. Talks start at 10 am in the bar, everyone welcome.

CAMRA Most Improved Rural Pub: GMCP are delighted that Megan and Peter have won the Eastern region most improved rural pub 2019, which is a great recognition of their achievements in such a short time.

CAMRA Pub Saving Award: GMCP are delighted to have won the Eastern region and then been awarded runner-up in the national competition of the CAMRA pub saving award. Everyone is invited to see our local MP, Anthony Browne, present the award to us in the pub at 6.30pm on Friday 20th March.

PUB20 nomination for Pub Chef of the Year – Well done and good luck Peter for being nominated for this award, and for reaching the final 5. To see Peter’s profile and for more details of the 4th February event at Olympia click here PUB20

The success of The Three Tuns is being closely followed by the media and BBC Radio Cambridge were keen to hear more about our campaign and how the pub is doing. This link to BBC Radio Cambridge will be live for a few weeks. The interview with GMCP Chairman John Harrison and Megan starts at 2hr 8mins. BBC Link

Finally, if you haven’t yet seen the Special Events board in the pub bar, here’s a link to details of Valentine’s Night, the Cheese Tasting, Pudding Club Nights and Mother’s Day. Events

See you down the pub!
