Because community pubs bring people together
This is the management site for GMCP Ltd
Guilden Morden Community Pub Limited (GMCP) was established in 2017 as a Community Benefit Society (CBS) incorporated under the Cooperative and Community Benefit Societies Act 2014. It is owned and managed by the community for the benefit of the community.
GMCP was formed to
-
Raise funds to purchase the freehold of and refurbish The Three Tuns in Guilden Morden
-
Lease the property to a tenant who will reopen and operate the pub as a successful long-term business
-
Ensure through the lease terms that The Three Tuns remains a social hub for the wider benefit of the community
GMCP currently has over 280 shareholders, most of whom live locally. GMCP’s constitution is based on the Model Rules provided by the Plunkett Foundation, a charitable organisation that supports community co-operatives in rural areas. As a CBS, each investor in GMCP has an equal vote irrespective of the size of their investment and no individual is able to make a capital profit from their investment. GMCP is run by a Management Committee of twelve shareholders.
